A FRENCH SOCIALIST.
IMPORTANT COLONIAL POST. RED PARTY OBJECTS. (Received 11 a.m.) PARIS, August 11. The Socialist Federation of the Seine department ejected 31. Varenne, a Socialist member of the Chamber of Deputies, from the party for accepting the post of Governor-General of IndoLnina. V. Varenne claimed that the appointment would offer a golden opportunity to apply Socialist Labour laws to the natives, who were at present being, exploited. He declared that he could not retract from his promise given to the Premier.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
