CLOTHES AMD MORALS.
N.Y. WORSE THAN CONGO. MISSIONARIES SHOCKED. NEW YORK, July 30. Dr. and Mrs. Arthur Piper, missionaries, returned to America after twelve years on the Belgian Congo. They took one glance at Broadway by night and Atlantic City by day time. Now they want to return, to Africa without delay. "In Masumbaland," they say, "we tried to teach the women to wear something besides beads, palm oil and sunehine. We get back to New York to discover that the girls wear only paint, powder and suggestion. "The clothing and dancing here are worse than in Africa. "The blacks know nothing of morals Here the people are immoral."
