WORKERS' COMPENSATION.
PRIORITY OVER MORTGAGES. JUDGE OSTLER'S DECISION. (By Telegraph. — Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. A claim by Harry Mandell under the Workers Compensation Act, 1023, disclosed an interesting position in ownership, the responsibilities of which were set out in a reserved judgment of Mr. Justice Ostler entered to-day. His Honor held that, under section 57 of the Merchant Shipping Act. 1804. the I claim took priority over mortgages on I the vessel on which the accident occurred. Plaintiff was injured at Wanganui on May S, 1920, by an accident arising out of the course of His employment on board the steamer Huia. At the time there were four mortgages on the register.
