EAR-SPLITTING WHISTLES.
ON MOTOR CARS. A complaint that certain types of horns on motor-cars, giving sudden blasts, should be prohibited, was the subject of a report by the City Traffic Inspector last evening. He mentioned that there was a by-law prohibiting the use of any siren or shrill whistle, and all had to be approved by him before being used. Several omnibuses running in the city were fitted with explosion whistles which gave the ear-splitting buzz complained of, they having- come into use since the March inspection of licensed vehicles. The City Council buses were also fitted with explosive whistles, and in consequence of complaints drivers of omnibuses had been warned not to use ' explosive whistles. I
