WELSH SOCIETY.
Teople who come:from Wale's—"the o£ Sous.'.' as Sir Harry Mitchell recently; called lier in a >lecture, at ".Timai'u—are - suiHcleutly numerous in Auckland to Have; a society of their own. The society was formed at a gathering held iv the Calosseuin Buildings, among those present being Mrs. Charles Linthwaite (of Neath), Mrs. f•Sinel (of Montgomeryshire;, Mrs. D.vies and -Miss J. Davies (of Lampeter), Miss -V lUrllfith. (of Carnarvon), Mr. Davies (of Sew Tredegar), Mr. J. Xeale (of Cardiff), Mr. r. T. Hum (of Crosskey's, Mon.), Mr. A. P. Grifflths-Jones OVrexham), Mr. K. Owen (Carnarvon), Mr. E. H. Morgan (ot, Aberystwyth), and IMr. J. Jones (of Cardiff). Mr. Morgan was appointed chairman and Mrs. Linthwaite secretary. In addition to the work of. the society, which will be principally musical, it is hoped to form a social club, which will enable the Welsh people'ln Auckland to gei to know one another. The meeting ~&» very enthusiastic about the prospects of tne society, and it closed with a spirited rendering; of the fine old "Land of Our Fathers," in Welsh.
