IMPROVEMENT SUSTAINED.
GOOD MONTH IN JULY.
The increase in the net duties collected at the port of Auckland during the firet six months of the present year was well sustained last month, and to date the figures" for the seven "months exceed those of the corresponding period of last year by over £105,000. The increase for July alone totalled £18,779. The com* parative figures are: —
The beer duty collected during July amounted : to f 8729, compared 'with £10,018 for July of last year, a decrease of £1289. The difference ■is accounted for largely by the fact that five weekly periods entered' into July, 1924, instead of the usual four.
