■ t A meeting of the executive of the Hortl* cultural Society was held In the Wesley Hall 011 Wednesday night. Mr. A. N. Wallace presiding. The secretary presented a statement ot accounts iv connection with the recent Kennel and Poultry Show, receipts, including members' subs, totalled £236 12/, and expenditure amounted to *2U© 6/10. leaving a credit balance of £27 5/2. This was satisfactory, but members considered the gate receipts should have been much higher. The matter of having district courts at the November sbow was discussed and referred to the next meeting for a final decision. Mr. C. C Buttlniore lias donated a special prize of £3 'if to encourage the growing of early potatoes in Waiuku district; bait a ton must have been marketed by October 20. The prize is for the best quarter hundred-weight exhibited at the November show. The executive of tbe Franklin Hockey Association met on Wednesday night, Mr. Eric Hay presiding. The congratulations of the association were extended to the Whirl Whirl and Wesley College teams, on their winning the Guest Shield and Junior Shield respectively, for 1920. The manager of the rep. team, submitted a report on tne team's doings in Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Smith donated a cup for a knockout competition, to be played for annually amongst the men's teams. It was decided to commence the games on August 8, all matches to be played on Waiuku ground. Entries were received from Whiri Whirl. Afca Aka, Glenbrook, Waipipl and Waiuku. Aka Aka plays Waiuku In the first round, the remaining teams having byes.
