THE AUCKLAND TEAMS. FHiST SELECTION MADE. TEAM FOR POVERTY BAY. The first selections in connection with the Auckland representative Rugby season have been made by Mr. G. Nicholson, who has chosen a team from the A division to travel to Gisborne next week for the match against Poverty Bay, and one from the B division to play North Waikato at Eden Park on Saturday. It was realised that the selector would have a hard job in separating quite a number of the candidates both for the forwards and backs, though this was made easier to some extent by the fact that the All Black players. Wright, Matson, Righton. and L. Knight, are not available for the trip to Gisborne. His selection for this gamo is: — Full-back: Goodacre (Grammar Old Boys). Three-quarters: Lucas (Ponsonby), Oooke (Grafton), Broderick (Marist Old Boys). Five-eighths: McGregor, Hook (Ponsonby). Half-back: A. McManus (Ponsonby). Rover: Keene (University). Forwards: Palmer (Ponsonby). Finlayson (Grafton), A. Knight (Grammar), Webber, McWilliams (Ponsonby), 15. Kcary (Grafton). Batty (Grammar). Emergencies: Slacken (University), Gallagher (College Panes), J. Keary (Grafton). The team will leave Auckland on Tuesday, July 21. returning on July 20. Players unable to make the trip are to notify the secretary of the Rugby Union. Players must attend the Ponsonby shed on Thursday evening at 8.30 o'clock. NORTH V. SOUTH MATCH. " AUCKLANDERS XOT AVAILABLE. There will be no Aucklanddrs available for the North Island v. South Island game, which is to bo played at Invercargill on July 29. Nominations are to be in by Wednesday, but the local selector has found that none of thi> players whom he had in mind for us ruination can make the trip. B DIVISION REPS. TO PLAY NORTH WAIKATO. The following team has been chosen by Mr. Nicholson from among the B. Division, teams to represent Auckland in a match' at F.don Park on r Saturday against the North Waikato team: — Full-back: M. Brimble (Manukau Rovers). Soloraan (North Shore). Dalton (King's), Consedine (Suburbs), Smith (North Shore), Charters (King's). Emergencies: Morecroft (Newton), Baker. McDonald (Suburbs), Stewart (King's), Somerville (Suburbs). Players must attend the Ponsonby shed at 8.30 p.m. on Thursday. PONSONBY V, THE REST. The season's champion team, Ponsonby. which has not lost a match this season, will be pitted on Saturday next at Eden Park against a team selected, from all the other senior teams, lor this game the following players have been selected to meet Ponsonby:— Full-back: Goodacre (Grammar).
