NEXT SUMMER'S FASHIONS.
SMAXI, HATS TO GO. LOXDOX, June 2. A complete rout of the small hat in favour of Gainsborough models is the principal innovation in the summer fashions, which promise to outshine their predecessors in spectacular brilliance. -London and Parisian designers are taking colourings from every choice bloom the florist knows. The flashing shades of fuchsia, petuna, the bright tints of apple-blossom, and various sweet pea pinks are embodied in diaphanous gowns. Flowers also smother the crowns of hats, falling gracefully to the shoulders and waists to heighten the effect, of a flowerbud come to life. Many slim debutantes are choosing frocks of chiffon, handpainted with garlands of flowers from the neck to the hem. Lace is again in evidence, following the Queen's lead in popularising the Nottingham product.
