A "PLAYFUL" FATHER.
USES RED-HOT POKER. THREE DAUGHTERS BCRXED. (By Telegraph.—rress Association.) CimiSTCHTJKOH, Monday. A man named Frank Alexander Glen, of Taylorville. was charged with illtreating three young daughters by burning them with a redhot poker. He pleaded not guilty, but admitted he had done it in play. Evidence given by the police and other officials showed that defendant was a widower with 12 children. The home was neglected through his drinking habits. The magistrate convicted and discharged accused on the ground that there wan no evidence of consistent cruelty. Defendant agreed to a prohibition order, and five of the children were committed to a receiving home.
