INSTALLATION OF WIRELESS.
COASTAL AND CARGO VESSELS. PROPOSED REGULATIONS. Since the loss of the Ripple off Cape Palliser the Government has considered the advisability of making it compulsory to have wireless installed on all coastal vessls, having regard to the number of passengers carried by such vessels. Regulations were drafted and submitted to shipping companies concerned and the companies in turn asked that a committtee be appointed to consider the proposed regulations before they became law. The request was granted and the inquiry opened at the Native Lands Office, Customs Buildings, this morning. Mr. G. C. Godley, secretary of the Marine Department is presiding, .associated with him being Captan G. Hooper, of the Marine Department, and Mr. A. K. Shrimpton, telegraphic engineer. The inquiry is not open to the Press.
