JACKAL'S PREY.
BABY CARRIED OFF. A CALCUTTA TRAGEDY. CALCUTTA, June 2. At Kalighat. a crowded Calcutta suburb, a jackal entered an occupied hut, and carried oft" an Indian baby, which bad just recovered from an attack of smallpox. An immediate search disclosed traces of blood on the roadway. The child has not been discovered.
