PRICE OF BREAD.
NO CHANGE IN WELLINGTON. (15y Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, Sunday. Reductions in the price of bread have been made in the South Island, as a result of a recent conference between the Minister of Industries nnd Commerce and a deputation from the Canterbury Master Bakers' Association, tho price over the counter being 1/ the 41b loaf. It does not seem likely that a corresponding reduction will be made in Wellington. An official of the Wellington Master Bakers' Association pointed out that the bakers in the South did not have the freights to pay on flour that the Wellington bakers were subject to. Unfortunately, he said, there were no mills in Wellington and bread manufacturers were on a different footing from those in other centres, as their Hour cost them about 28/0 a ton more.
