PUBLIC DANCES.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —The article on dancing, no doubt, contains a great deal of truth. The method of dancing is often, no doubt, grotesque, but it is done everywhere. As for the cabarets, we have only one. and .lately the indifference with which dinner suits and evening frocks are worn is shocking. And to this place the girl who has worked fill day and goes home to a cheerless room, cannot afford to go. Her amusement is fouhd in stufly halls, she drinks for mere bravado, and accepts any treatment so long as a danco Jβ forthcoming. Better catering and management—not so much of the "every 1/0 counts"—and we would not have to read of the scandalous behaviour of the modern generation.— I am. etc., OXE WHO KXOWS.
