LOCAL BODY ELECTIONS.

RETIRING COUNCILLORS' MANIFESTO. A manifesto has been issued by sixteen members of the Auckland City Council, who intend to seek re-election on April 29, as follows: — "We, the undersigned members of the Auckland City Council, have pleasure in again offering you our services on behalf of the city. There are many important j municipal undertakings commenced during our term of office still uncompleted, such as construction of main roads in concrete, improvement of secondary streets, extension of water supply, further improvement of parks, and progress and advancement of the city generally. To these and all other matters of civic administration we well, if re-elected, continue to give our constant attention. We are unanimous in our hearty approval of the proposed civic square, a scheme commended to the support of our progressive citizens. We believe that our past record of service entitles us to your confidence, and we therefore ask for your support for a further term." Tlie signatories are Miss Melville and Messrs. Allum, Bloodworth, Brinsden, Bennett, Crooks, Donald, Dempsey, Entrican, Garland, Ilardley, Knight, Paterson, Robertson, Thompson and Warnock. TAKAPUNA RATEPAYERS. A general meeting of the Takapuna Central Ratepayers and Residents' Association was held in the Parish Hall, Takapuna. The president, Mr. C. Bartlev, was in the chair. The reading and adopting of a schedule of rules drawn up by the committee occupied part of the time of the meeting; also in discussing a proposal that the association and the Ratepayers' Progressive Association should amalgamate. This was lost on a show of hands. The rest of tho meeting was given over to the coming municipal election, addresses being given by several candidates for election, including Messrs. J. Williamson, Miles E. Thompson, A. Warbrick, D. Mowbray and C. Cutler. Apologies for unavoidable absence were sent by' Messrs. Gee, Suckling and Simpson. DARGAVILLE MAYORALTY. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DARGAVILLE, this day. Councillor A. C. Paul was nominated for the Mayoralty of Dargaville yesterday. He has been a councillor for eight years and is the oldest sitting member. Mr. F. A. Jones will also be nominated for the Mayoralty.
