ALLEGED MAIL ROBBERY.
TWO MEN IMPLICATED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) PUTARURU, this day. Charged with stealing a mail-bag and contents, valued at about £130, at Mangaore, Shannon, on March 10 last year, William Robb appears before the Magistrate at Palmerston North to-day. Robb was arrested at Arapuni by Detective Russell, of Palmerston North, and Constable Murphy, of Putaruru, the arrest being a sequel to the return to the Dominion under escort from Australia of a man named Hollis some days ago. It appears that on March 10, 1924, the mail contractor left a bag at Mangaore for Robb to pick up next morning in accordance with established practice, and to convey further next morning. However, Robb reported the bag missing, and the police charge is that Hollis an°d he stole and rifled it overnight.
