"PROMISED LAND."
BOUQUET FOR AUSTRALIA. LADY BRIDGES SURPRISED. LONDON, March 2S. The "Weekly Dispatch" says that Lady Bridges, wife of the Governor of South Australia (Sir Tom Bridges), is dissipating English misconceptions of Australia. She says: "Instead of arid areas which I was told to expect, 1 found a most beautiful country, equalling the promised land, and rilled with flowers, fruit, and sunshine. The legend that the birds are songless, and the flowers scentless, is untrue. I wish the English people could hear the Australian magpie and smell the boronia."
