COSTS TOO HIGH,
ADVICE TO SHIPBUILDERS
LONDON, March 27.
Mr. John Barr, who presided at the shipbuilding conference, emphasised the great difference between Continerftal and British prices. Employers had not asked the men to work longer hours, said Mr. Barr, who advocated the extension of payment by results as a means of lowering costs.
The trade union representatives agreed to refer to their executives the employers' suggestion of a joint committee to investigate costs of production within and without the shipbuilding yards.
