DRUNK ON A TRAIN.

DROPPED OUT INTO FROST. (From Our Own Correspondent.) TAIHAPE, Wednesday. A man under the influence of liquor, who boarded the Limited express for the South at Taumarunui the other morning, had a somewhat rough passage. Hβ made himself a nuisance to everybody in the carriage, and his language could only be described as dreadful. Exception was taken to the use of such language in the presence of ladies by another passenger on the train, and when the language continued, the inebriated one was taken vigorously in hand, and in addition to being given a severe handling by the objecting passenger, he , ' was subjected to the humiliation of having to apologise to the ladies, after which he was unceremoniously bundled out into another compartment. With the persistency which is a marked feature of some persons unde,r the influence of liquor, he continued to make himself a nuisance, and when the train reached Ohakune, he and ■ his luggage were put off. The train, however, had not left Ohakune very long , when it was discovered that the "drunk . had again got aboard without liis ; luggage. He persisted in making him- ; self a nuisance, and was put off tbe i train at Waiouru at an early hour in i the morning when the ground was white ! with frost. As Waiouru is 2600 ft above I sea level, and the morning was bitterly , cold, the erryng one would have a most • unpleasant Sicpericnce, especially as he J would have to wait for some hours 1 before he could catch a train north or - south.
