BIRKEXHEAD AND XORTHCOTE._ The most successful season which attended the initial year's functioning of th.- Blrkeiihead and Northcote Orphans' Club was the subject of congratulation at the annual meeting in the. Xorthcote Masonic Hull last evening:. The president, Mr. A. M. Plckford, referred ill eulogistic terms to the. high Rtandard of efficiency readied by the orchestra, and to the splendid cooperation of The officials. The membership was i:>(l, and .though the balance sheet showed a debit of. £22 7/1, there were inuuy non-recurring items of expenditure.' while £11) 12/4 represented the amount written off :is depreciation, so that the veal deficit wns only £2 14/f. The report and balance sheet were adopted. Mr. Alfred Hurley was the recipient of a presentation biulgp in appreciation of ■the cooil work porformod by the club. Jte«ri't was reconlptl ac the loss of the services of Messrs. F. 0. Devlin ami 3. HBorrows, who ale leaving to take up their residence ■at Daniicvirbc and Thames respectively.
