Tliat the Education Board, with the consent of the Minister of Education, is prepared to sell to the Newmarket Borough Council, for the sum of £4000, the balance of the old school site at Newmarket, after certain areas are retained, was the advice contained in a letter from the board, received by the Council at its meeting last evening. The areas to be retained are (a) the frontage to Newmarket Road with a depth of 1!)S links, and (b) a further area, having a frontage of 301 feet to Mortimer Pass, with a depth of 195 links, approximately. The board's offer to sell the land at £4000 is on the condition that the land will be permanently reserved for public recreation purposes. ; "Apparently they are not giving it away," remarked the Mayor, Mr. S.
