OBITUARY.
A DEVONPORT RESIDENT. MR. E. RUSSELL JONES. The death of Mr.' Edmund Russell Jones yesterday at the age of 65 years removes a highly-respected resident of Devonport. Mr. Jones was only five years old when he came with his parents to New Zealand. He lived first at Christchurch, but had resided in Aiickland for forty years. He married the second daughter of the late Mr. Edward Broughton, of Christchurch, and came to Devonport to reside. Mr. Jones was early associated with his father, the late Mr. Thomas Jones, in the Northern Boot and Shoe Company. Later he started a warehouse and agency business known as "Tallerman. and Co." Mr. Jones was for many years a director of the Auckland Cooperative Terminating Building Society, of which he was one of the pioneers. He was also an active worker in connection with the Devonport Methodist Church, being a local preacher, a teacher in the Sunday school, superintendent for ten years, and also a trustee of the property. Mr. Jones was a member of Lodge Albion, Freemasons, and of the Devonport Bowling Club. He is survived by his wife and three daughters— Mrs. C." J. Burton, Mrs. F. E. Sutherland, and Miss Ivy Jones. The interment took place, this afternoon at ONeil's Point cemetery.
