MANAGING DIRECTOR AT £3 10/

A ONE-MAX CONCERN. (From Our Own Correspondent.) PALMEKSTOX XORTH, Tuesday. It has oft' been said that there is a tide in the affairs of man, taksm at the flood, etc., but this tide does not ahvavs lead to fortune, as was revealed by a judgment debtor at the Court to-day, who professed to have been the man-aging-director of a company at a salurv of £3 10/ per week. ' " At first the debtor, who was middle aged, well dressed and with the demoanour of a retired business man, was not communicative in respect to the details of the company, but confessed after persuasion that the concern was a condiment manufacturing establishment commenced last year, with a total capital of £400, of which he had a half share represented in stock. The other shareholder was a wealthy local farmer. The debtor was sole manufacturer, employee and distributor, and during his term in the managing director's chair had recorded a loss of £100 on the first year s operations. The present debt of £07 10/ was for fowl feed purchased some years ago. He was ordered to pay this in instalments.
