POSITION IN AUCKLAND

NO TROUBLE ANTICIPATED.

Shipping men at Auckland do not at present anticipate any trouble with the local waterside workers. Existing conditions do not indicate any friction with the men, and cargo work on vessels in port is being carried on as usual. The usual monthly stop-work meeting of waterside workers was' held yesterday, when the men are stated to have expressed dissatisfation with the new award. The business of the meeting was, however, not connected with the situation at other ports.

SYDNEY PASSENGER SERVICE. The local office of the Huddart-Parker Line has received advice from Wellington, that the Ulimaroa will leave there for Sydney to-morrow afternoon as advertised. If she is not worked the vessel will carry her cargo back to Australia.

In consequence of the delay in the sailing of the Marama from Sydney for Auckland, a large number of intending passengers for Australia are to leave by to-night's express for Wellington to connect with the Ulimaroa. The Marama was originally scheduled to leave Sydney on Monday last, but f wing to trouble with her stokehold crew her departure is now indefinite. She cannot reach Auckland before Sunday next at the earliest, and her departure date cannot be fixed until her sailing from Sydney is reported. The Koromiko was timed to leave the Princees wharf last evening for Portland to discharge a quantity of gypsum from Australia, but trouble with her firemen held the vessel up. It was hoped to dispatch her to-day.
