A SURGICAL OPERATION. BERLIN, February 25. The operation for appendicitis on tho President of Germany, Herr Ebcrt, Was performed at practically a moment's notice. The president had barely timd to arrange for someone to attend to the duties of his office. Tlie surgeon found the cnse one of unusual complication. Herr Ellert's health had been generally undermined as the result of incessant political attacks, and lately tho combined attempts to implicate him in the Barmat scandal. It is- not considered likely that lie will be a candidate at the next Presidential election in May.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
