There xvas a rather sensational burglary at Manurewa last night, thiex-es! gaining entry to the post office and attempting to blow open the safe, i Investigations this morning showed that entrance had been effected by | breaking a windoxr and releasing the j catch. The explosive used w„ insufficient to force the safe, and toerely , I deranged the mechanism, so that the ; door was jammed and could not be ! opened. The xvindoxv immediately above | the safe was shattered by the explosion. The burglary was discovered about j I 6 o'clock this morning, when a passer-! •by found the door of the post office open and the window thrown up. Residents in the neighbourhood report having heard a loud noise in the early I hours of the morning.
