NIUE ISLAND.
I ANOTHER .STEAMER WANTED. ! The need for renewing the Niuc Island | steamer service was brought under the . notice of the Mininßtcr for Cook Islands, Sir Maui Pomare, to-day by a deputa- ! tion of Island traders in Auckland, introduced by- Mr. A. A. Martin, presi- ' dent of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce. It was pointed out to the Minister that the service had been disturbed by the loss of the Rama at Chatham Island, and the deputation urged that a steamer service was required as quickly "' as possible. The Minister replied that the matter was already in hand, to the extent that ! tenders for a steamer service had been called for some time. He hoped the 'steamer service between Mangaia and Auckland would soon be resumed.
