BOLD BANK THIEF.
A HAUL OF £3000. POLICE OFFICER WOUNDED. NEW YORK, December 26. There was a bold Christmas robbery, when a single robber calmly walked into the State Bank in New Orleans when the doore opened at nine o'clock on Wednesday. Ho took a shortened gun from under his coat, locked four clerks in the vault, and took away £3000. Fortunately the vault was equipped with a device permitting it to be opened from the inside. The employees freed themselves, and when the robber reached the sidewalk they shouted for help. A policeman came running up, but the robber wounded him with buckshot. Ho then commandeered amassing motor car, and, compelling the driver to drive off quickly, made his escape.— ("Sun.")
