In regard to the floating wreckage reported by tlio steamer Volsella while on tlie voyage from Napier to Wanganui, the vessel's officers state that it appeared to be a mast attached to v submerged object. The Volsella at the time was midway between the Kahau rocks and Cai>e I'alliser.
