MR. McVILLY TO RETIRE.
CHIEF OF N.Z. RAILWAYS. Mr. R. AY. McVilly, General Manager of the New Zealand Railways, will retire shortly. He has been in the railway service since ISSO. During Mr. E. 11. Hiley'a terra in the Dominion, Mr. McVilly was assistant general manager, and he became general manager in TfU7 when Mr. Hifey returned to England. The first nnd second assistant general managers at present are Mr. J. Mason and Mr. H. A. Stirling, but it ia impossible at this stage to state who will succeed Mr. McVilly as the whole Department is in a transition stage.
