A well-known farmer of Eureka, Thomas Luxtbn, 52, appeared before the Magistrate's Court at Hamilton yesterday afternoon charged with fraudulently obtaining £125 17/ from the Yorkshire Insurance Company. Accused's house, a ten-roomed dwelling, was burned to the ground early on the morning of September 2. -In compiling bis schedule of losses Luxton included a number "of articles as having been destroyed, whereas .it is alleged, they were actually saved from the conflagration. The articles referred to include four carpets, one hall mirror, one pair of hall curtains, two mats, a hall runner, an ottoman and a dress suit. Accused was remanded' till next Wednesday, in bail of £300.
