DIOCESAN SYNOD CONCI/UDES. PAROCHIAL KINDERGARTENS MOOTED. The 24 ill session of the Diocesan Synod was brought to a conclusion yesterday afternoon. The Bishop of Auckland (Dr. Averill) presided. The following motion, sot down on the agenda to be moved by Mr. G. H. Minchin, was withdrawn on the Bishop's suggestion, it being understood that it could be brought up at another umo: —"That it be a recommendation to General Synod that all vicars be appointed to pariehes for a term of years not more than five or less tlitui three, and that the canon be altered to provide for this change/ On the motion of Archdeacon Hawkins il was decided that it be a recommendation to the Standing Committee to consider the advisability of introducing into the next session of Synod legislation which would ensure a clearer distinction between its resolutions that were binding and those that were not so. The matter of representation was brought up by Rev. J. L. A. Kayll, who moved that the whole question, as concerning General Synod, should be revised in order to provide: —(1) That General Synod l>e free in future to arrange iii each individual case, the terms upon which a missionary diocese niijrht he admitted to the ecclesiastical] province: (2) that the representation of the diocese already forming part of the province should be placed on a proportional basis, and (3) that the representatives of the Auckland Diocese bo, asked to bring the matter before General Synpd. The resolution was carried. • For purposes of assisting ill the promotion of parochial kindergartens, and to organise a supply of qualified teachers and volunteer assistants, it was decided on the motion of Rev. Canon Mason that the Auckland Church Schools Board l>e asked to organise a diocese kindergarten association. The Bishop pronounced the Benediction.
