Messrs. W. Siddall (Sumner), and A. Davies, G. H. Scott and H. C. Thomas (Wellington), are at the Central Hotel. Mr. J. G. Harkness, of Wellington, has been appointed a member of the Dominion Land Purchase Board. Mr. and Mrs. Eliot Davis returned to Auckland by the Maheno to-day, after a visit to Australia. . Messrs. L. C. Manning (Wellington) and R. C. Bisgrove (Sydney), are at the Star Hotel. Mr. E. L. Ansell. of Epsom, has returned after visiting England, the Continent, South Africa and Australia. Mr. AUan Bishop, after nearly 50 years' service, has just retired from the staff of the National Bank. He has been manager at Balclutha for the last 39 years. Messrs. C. R. A. Dawe, city surveyor, and H. F. Willis, assistant city surveyor, Christchurch, have resigned their positions with a view to commencing a private practice. Recent arrivals at the Grand Hotel are Mr_ Mrs., and Miss Maling (Christchurch), Messrs. H. Gibb (Dunedin), T. Tucker (Wellington), and Scanncll (Hastings). Somewhere about eighty cases are likely to come before the War Pensions Appeal Board sittings in Auckland. Pensioners are notified that if j it they may have the assistance of the I secretary of the Returned Soldiers' Association in presenting their cases i before the Board. The sittings will begin on Thursday. 1
