Framed and hanging on the front sf the Post Office in Shortland Street is a poster issued by the Government dealing with the National Provident Fund. The poster is smothered with dirt, and to read it one would need to put in some time with a pick and shovel. However, spring is here, and maybe somebody will see that it pets a spring cleaning. An employee of the Horowhenua Power Board got badly shocked on 230 volta through a ladder slipping. He was unconscious when rescued. The Opunake Power Board recently killed two cows with a broken 6600 volt line. The Dunedin City Corporation Trading Department's return for the past six months totalled £35,598, as against £39,702 for the corresponding period of last year. One of the biggest deals in fat cattle ever recorded in Otago has taken place, Messrs. Barton end Trrngrove having purchased from Mr. Peter Anderson, of Stirling, 190 head of prime bullocks at £26 per head, the total purchase price being .£11.870. It i= understood that two Christehurch butchers were prospective buyers.
