IN A HEALTHY STATE. ißy Telegraph.— Own Correspondent.) CAMBRIDGE, this day. The monthly meeting of the Cambridge Borough Council wae held last evening in the Council Cliambers, the Mayor, >[r. C. H. Priestly, presiding-. The borough treasurer presented a comprehensive report of the council's halfyearly workings, showing that the borough's financial position was much more satisfactory for the period than for many 3-eara past. The general account showed that the estimated expenditure had been underspent to the amount of £539 3/9. Notwithstanding the rigid economy practised during the last six months, all the departments of the council were in a healthy state. The labilities for the next half-yearly period amount to £6362. The treasurer confidently expects the period to end with the council having" £498 in hand. This ia the first year the council has not been assisted by loan moneys. Councillors paid a tribute to the Mayor, treasurer, and foreman for the splendid position of the borough in contrast with previous years.
