AMUSEMENTS.

THE OPERA HOUSE. A programme distinguished by the uniform merit or t__ offerings was presented at the change of programme at the Opera House yesterday. " There is no item or outstanding merit, but a good average is maintained in v wide diversity of vaudeville fare contained in the ten different turns. Revues seem to be the particular magnet at Fullers', and it is announced that another company will commence a season in October. In the setting of a bush camp, Marcus and D'Arma opened the programme with pleasant Harmonies, in which an oi-gau and dulcitone accompaniment was effective. Fred Webber entertained the audience with his performances at the piano, and showed a subtle pair or hands. "Honeymoon Confessions," a skit by G. Edwards and Esla Sylvaney, exposed the frailties or the happy couple's past to the discomllture or botn parties. It was a bright and laughable item. There was a certain amount "of merit in the songs of Phil Bransby, character comedian, who dressed to suit the part. Quite a neat performance was that of the Fredo Boys, whose acrobatic feats while playing the violin were something novel in this line. From divers positions the smaller of tbe pair was tossed into the air, where he would spin and turn, but rarely take his bow from his instrument. The contrast between Armitage and Hlne, as a general (the domestic type) and recruiting officer, respectively, was responsible for much mirth. 'Their patter and songs were well received. Jock Mills, a Scottish humorist and raconteur, had something new to relate about the race, while Walter Vernon, ventriloquist, deceived the audience with the' manner in which ha brought his dummy to life. He transferred his voice in several intonations without any perceptible effort, and. as f. catchy line or humour ran through the Jjnversatlon, the offering was distinctly popular. Dinks and Trikie scored weR in song and dance, while the grotesque appearance or the male member, who looks down at his audience rrom a couple or yards above tho stage, accentuated his humour. The tall one showed a suppleness or limb in his dancing and baton swinging. The Philmers, wire walkers, complete the entertainment. "SAN TOY."' The first performance of "San Toy," by . the Auckland Amateur Operatic Society, . will be given in Ills Majesty's Theatre to- ! morrow night. The comic opera Is being produced on a lavish scale, and will feature some sparkling ballet numbers and wonderrul scenery. Miss Eva Robertson will play "San Toy," and the remainder or tbe cast will be composed of many or Auck- " land's best-known amateurs. i ELLERSLIE CONCERT. A most successful programme was presented In the Ellerslie Parish Hall last evening- by the Butterlly Vaudeville Company The general production was staged under the direction or Mrs. A. Howell, to whom is - due the chief credit ror the success which i attended the entertainment. Included in , the programme wero items by some of . Auckland's leading amateurs.
