HAMILTON GUN CLUB.
OPEN AND NOVICE SHOOT. A very successful meeting of the Hamilton Gun Club was held at Buakura on Saturday afternoon, the novices shooting especially well. A fair crowd of spectators was present. The results were: — First Open Sweep. JO birds, 13 competitors. —W. Howe and G. Curtis tied with possible. • Xovice Shoot, 10 birds, 14 competitors.— i A. Ray-sen and R. McMlkea, 0 birds each. I Second Open Shoot. 7 birds.—X. Mc--1 Miken and R. Whittcn tied 6 each, and shot I off, McMiken, winning. ONEHUNGA BOROUGH COUNCIL. 9 The fortnightly meeting of the OneUunga Borough Council was held last night. Present: Messrs. J. E. Cowell (Mayor), AY. X. Mcintosh (Deputy Mayor), W. C. Coldietfit, T. Gilbert, I*. R. Lipscombe. C. E. Goode, G. Hunter, _*. 11. Dodd, A. J. Hipwell. Finance. —The general account is iv debit; £4505, and the Domain account £432. Accounts amounting to £1555 were passed for payment. Seddon Memorial. —The Auckland Electric Tower Board has offered to provide and maintain two lights at the Seddon Memorial, one on the top of 250 caudlepower for £10 S/ per annum, and one inside of 100 candle-power, for £7 16/6. The council decided last night that tbe outside light should be of 500 candle-power and the one inside of 25, provided the price is satisfactory. Hillsboro' Cemetery-—lt was decided that the burial plots iv the new area at the above cemetery be Bft — 6ft, that the price be £S each, and that the area be allotted in the following proportions: Roman Catholic, 400 plots; Nonconformists, 400; aud Anglican, 200 {all approximately). .Tellicoe Park.—The council is willing to pay half the cost of tarring around the I children's playing equipment in .Tellicoe Park, if the Citizens' Committee will do the same. The total cost is estimated at £j5 by the borough engineer. Mount Smart Reserve. —The council has Informed the Minister of Lands that the Mount -Smart Reserve is to be converted into a recreation reserve as soon as i>ossible. Charitable Aid. —The council received an account for £266 19/5, due on September 1, to the Charitable Aid Board. A covering letter stated that seven per cent interest will be charged on the amount if it is not paid within 14 days. Tha account was passed for payment. Petition.—Residents in Jackson Street petitioned the council to drain the adjacent swamp, which they declared to be a breeding-place for mosquitoes; also, to clear blackberry from the street, which they also said appeared to be a dumping ground for rubbish. The engineer is to report on the matter, Beautifying Society.—The Finance Committee recommended the council to take over the liability of the Beautifying Society, amounting to £77 0/3. In moving the adoption of the recommendation, the Mayor stated that the auditor had certified that the money had been properly spent by the society. The recommendation, waa adopted. Tenders.—The following tenders were received for the supply and delivery of coke: —McCarten Brothers, £2 6/6 per ton; H. Bray, £2 5/6; Cunningham and Co., £2 4/5; Sutherland and Pearson (accepted), £2 3/0. Removal of Nightsoil.—Sutherland and Pearson, lOd per week; McCarten Brothers. Od; Cunningham and Co., 8d; H. Mockford (accepted), 1/9 per month for a weekly service.
