HOKIANGA HARBOUR.

BAR SILTS UP. The iong spoil of westerly weather experienced during June and early in the present month had its effect on the sandy bar at the mouth of the Hokianga Harbour, which silted up considerably, the depth of water on the bar being now much less than it was a month or two ago. The steamer Omana recently made a trip to Hofcianga to load timber at Rangiora, Hokianga Harbour, and niter entering the harbour found there was not sufficient water to allow her to get out safely after being loaded, so she had to leave empty. The usual shipping service to HoKianga from the Manjnkau by the Ohinemuri was also interfered with, and there was a delay of twelve days in the last trip. However, the weather lor the past week was good, and the steamer services have since been fully- maintained.
