DEATHS FROM INJURIES.
ACCIDENT AT WATOKIT. FATAL FALL ON SHIP. Mile assisting to fell a tree at Waiuku, on July 7, a farmer, Mr. Charles Williams, suffered injuries. These proved to be fatal, Mr. Williams dying at the Franklin Memorial Hospital yesterday. ... v Deceased, who was aged 58, wa3, on tte day of the accident, employed in felling, a pine tree on the property of Mr. C Hosting, Wainku. A rope and windlass were being used in the operations, and Mr. Williams was attempting to pull the tree away from one direction when a strong wind blew it back to fte old position. The windlass was wrenched .from the ground by the force and the handle struck deceased on the mad, knocking him unconscious. After removal to the hospital an operation was penormed, and the injured man progressed favourably until Sunday, when, rafortnaately, meningitis set in. in inquest was held before Mr. M. A. JambalL Coroner, at Waiuku, yesterday- The finding was that death was aae to meningitis, accelerated by a fractured skull, accidentally received. No "Jame was attachable to anyone. Deceased was well known in Waiuku, «ns, leaves a wife and eleven children, we eldest of whom is 11 years of age. BEST ' . ACCIDENT ON" TOFUA. The injuries received by Mr. Charles Tjrd Couzens, who fell down the hold YZi 6teamer Tofua on Wednesday, ana suffered severe injuries to the head a M chest, also proved fatal, the injured ™» dying at the hospital last night. £*«ased was a married man, employed °7 tne United Repairing Company.
