INFECTIOUS DISEASES.
HOSPITAL BOARD'S COMPLAINT ALLEGED GOVERNMENT BLUNDER. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) DUNTSDIN, this day. Dr. Watt, Deputy Director-General of Health) met the Hospital Board with reference to accommodation of infectious disease cases, and urged the necessity for further provision in Otago, the present provision being 5.6 per 10,000 of population, to the Dominion average of 8 per 10,000. The position, it was stated, was made worse by the accommodation being scattered over three institutions. The chairman (Mr. Knight) stressed the Board's financial position. Consequent upon the Government's blunder over the separation of South Otago, Dunedin contributed four-sevenths of the total district levy. The matter was referred to the Finance Committee.
