STOLE FATHER'S FURNITURE.
A SON'S ADMISSION. COMMITTED FOR SENTENCE. The theft of a piano, an organ, and a hall seat from the bouse of bis father was admitted by Audrey Lionel Moore (22), who appeared in the Police Court this morning. He pleaded guilty. , Chief Detective Cummings prosecuted, and accused was not represented by counsel. Joseph W. Moore, in evidence, said that the piano, organ, and ball seat ■were valued at £138. On Saturday morning last witness left his home in Mount Albert Road and went to business. When he returned about mid-day he discovered that the articles had been removed. Witness never gave his son authority to remove or sell them. Detective Sergeant Issell, of Newton, eaid he arrested accused in Mount Eden last evening. Moore was on Ids way to catch the Main Trunk express for WelI lington. He candidly admitted having removed the piano, organ and scat, and getting , them to a dealer in Symonda Street for £61. In a statement which he signed and gave to witness, accused said that he had been employed as * land agent's representative. He said that he had not been on good terms with his father. On Thursday last he made arrangements with the dealer for the sale of the furniture, telling the dealer that the articles were his own property. Accused was given two cheques, one for £40 and another for £21, and both were cashed. Out of the money received he purchased a suit of clothes and a railway ticket to Wellington. He stated further that he left his father a note saying that he was going to Titirangi, and leading him to believe that another person had removed the furniture. Accused said he fully intended to write to his father from Wel- . lington and confess to everything. , Accused, who had nothing to a.ay, pleaded guilty, and was committed to "the Supreme Court for sentence.
