ALLEGED CONTEMPT.

APPLICATION AGAINST PAPER. COMMENT IN COURT CASE. LONDON, May 16. An unsuccessful application was made before Bench division-for a rule nisi for alleged contempt of Court against the "Daily Mail." This was a sequel to certain information published by the paper named concerning an ' approaching action, Charles Robinson y. the Midland Bank, a claim for £125,000. . Lord Halsbury, who appeared for the t applicant, declared that behind the pend- , ing case there' was a sinister, wicked, , and criminal conspiracy. He said that ■ a person ;in a high position was con- , nected with-the case. I Iβ referring to Mr; Robinson's claim, , the newspaper referred to a cheque for \ £150,000 drawn an Indian .Rajah in ( favquj of the claimant. The article also ~ mentioned Mr.'.Robinson's allegation , 'that the money was drawn oiit of the .< bank by'means of forged cheques. . Lord-Halsbury'declared that the term "Rajah" jrae inaccurate.
