• l-i I Obeying promptly when the manager pointed a pipe at them and said, "Hands up or I'll fire," two midnight intruders in the Theatre Royal, Barry, surrendered and consented to be locked in the office while the police were telephoned for. The mock revolver was a happy thought that .occurred to Mr. Cecil H. Collinson, ' the manager, after a desperate struggle in • the dark. Up to this point he had been I getting rather the worst of it. | Walking along the street after midnight. |he saw an unexpected light in the build- ' ing, nnd entered by the stage door to | investigate. At that moment the lights were sudI denly switched out, and he was groping along in the darkness when two men sud- ! denly attacked him. He was thrown to ! the ground, but continued the struggle ; pluckily, and at last was able to get his ; pipe out of his pocket. In the dim llsht jit served its purpose, and the intruders i consented to walk in front of him to his | office, where he turned tbe key on them. Police were telephoned for, and the men taken into custody. Mr. Collinson stated later that one of j the men struck at him with a knife, but I luckily it only penetrated his coat.
