HOBSON STREET BATHS.
LATEST HEATING SCHEME. TO COST OVER £4000. The announcement that there is still | another scheme on foot for the heating I of the Hobson Street baths was made :at the last meeting of the City Council. It is now proposed to heat the water after it has been pumped into the baths by means of steam generated by a boiler to be erected at the baths. The estimated cost of the work is over £4000. The previous scheme, the abandonment of which was also mentioned at the City Council meeting, was never put into effect It provided for the heating of the water at Hobson Street Power Station en route to the baths, and would not have entailed any capital outlay. If it had been adopted it was calculated that the baths would have been at the usual temperature in four days.
