FRUIT AND PRODUCE.
The fruit and produce market i$ in a steady condition this week with no material alterations in prices. Delicious apples ex-cooler ranged from 0/ to 13/ for the best and others from 5/ to 8/, Stunner, 7/6 to 10/6, Jonothan, 8/ to 10/, Doherty, 5/ to 8/6, cookers, 6/ to 8/. Hothouse tomatoes realised lOd to 1/1 a lb and outdoor 4/ to 12/ an 181b "asc. Lower Hutt tomatoes realised from 12/ to 14/ a 241b case. White Sydney grapes realised from 12/ to 14/ a case and hothouse grapes were firm, the choicest bringing 3/0 a lb, and others from 1/ to 2/ a lb. Keiffcr's pears realised from 7/ to 9/ a case and Winter Cole from 11/ to 14/. There is an abundance of oranges and repacks brought from 11/ to 12/ a case. Local passion fruit brought from 18/ to ' 22/ c, case and the Sydney fruit 23/ lo 25/ the latter cases being the larger. In the produce section there are plenty of vegetables with prices at the usual rates. Eggs are still in short supply and brought 3/4 (hen. a_»l 2/7 (duck) a dozen. Poultry prices remain much the same as the last few weeks.
