! j CONFERENCE RESOLUTIONS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) j WELLINGTON, this day. The secondary schools teachers' conference resolved, "That the executive of the association urge the Government to raise widows' pensions under the Superannuation Act. being of opinion that tho prt-scnt allowance is a mere pittance and a blemish on the education system of New Zealand." On the motion of Mr. !T. M. Benner it was resolved. "That this association expresses in general its confidence in agreement with the present system of grading, classification and appointment of secondary schools teachers, and woiild strongly disapprove of reverting to conditions obtaining pre- . vious to introduction of the present i regulations pertaining to classification j and tbe appointment of secondary school ; teachers." | It was further resolved. "That the : association protests strongly against i interference contained in the reported I statement of the director that the school i teachers' year consists of 1000 official | hours." | A remit was carried to the effect that it is most desirable that any change in the syllabus for the matriculation ; entrance scholarship affecting the work !of secondary schools in the current or i following year shall be notified as 1 promptly as possible after the annual j meeting of the senate. ! :
