LONDON, May 14.
The African cricketers began a match egainst Notts to-day. There was a moderate attendance. The Home captain won the toss and sent the visitors in on a good wicket. The innings lasted three and a-half hours and realised 186. Nourse 52, Catterall 24, Deane 21, Taylor 21, Blackenberg 20. Barratt took five wickets for 59 runs, and Richmond three for 49. Barratt and Oates combined effectively in attack, the former at one stage having four wickets for 9 runs. The visitors were victims of several doubtful decisions. 'When stumps were drawn Notts had lost five wickets for 83 runs (Whysall 45).—(A. and N.Z.)
