The discovery of a method of production of clear-fused quartz is announced by the General Electric Laboratory. It is characterised as one of the greatest adjuncts to medicine for many years. Such quartz has the property of carrying either light or heat. It makes lialit turn corners and even travel in circles. A solid tube of the substance •when bent in a semi-circle, .carried the light through as though the quartz were a hose and the light were water.
