SIKI'S KNOCK-OUT.
NOW PORTER IN HOTEL.
THOUGHTS OF HOME.
LONDON, May 8.
"Battling" Siki, who achieved pugilistic fame by defeating Carpentier, is now a porter in a Havana hotel. He has appealed to his Parisian friends to subscribe to a fund to enable him to return to Europe.
"Battling" Siki, the French boxer, who won fame in the ring by defeating Georges Carpentier, recently came into notoriety in Cuba. He walked off a balcony in Havana one night, and hit the concrete pavement with his head. The concrete was reported to have been badly damaged. Siki, none the worse, was arrested, and taken to gaol, but apparently escaped punishment. The charge was presumed to be that of damaging the municipal footpath.
