NEW ZEALAND APPLES.
ENGLISH ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
WELLINGTON, this day
Exporters of New Zealand apples to the English market this season are levying themselves to the extent of a halfpenny per case to conduct an advertising campaign for three months in England. There has been a significant change jii this season's advertising' arrangements. Formerly New Zealand combined with the Australian States in its publicity, but the Dominion has broken away this season, and will make a special bid for consideration. The principal reason for this change is that while New Zealand is only exporting first quality fruit, Australia is permitting black spot fruit to be marketed in London, though it is plainly marked as blemished. On the basis of the probable export from New Zealand this season, about £400 will be available for the publicity campaign. Mr. Attwood, president of the New Zealand Fruitgrowers' Federation, who is in England, hag written stating that the general opinion among those who know the English market is that there will be a good demand for New Zealand fruit. • The advertising scheme is being supported by Munros, one of New Zealand's principal fruit brokers, *who are allowing 60 of their large motors in London to carry big posters, "Eat New Zealand Fruit." "Over 100,000 leaflets are being circulated, and all the tube stations are provided with attractive posters, and handsome showcards are placed in the windows of firstclass shops.
